90% of Americans Believe in a God? Perhaps not…

I have linked to this article for one purpose only: To prove that many god-believers aren’t even sure of his/her beliefs. Many Americans claim a religion on government forms, but when it comes down to the tough questions, many just shrug. My thought is this: if one is going to have a belief, know what you believe in. Don’t try to debate when all your answers are “I don’t knows” or some flawed quote that ends up right where we began.

In addition, just because one is in some majority, doesn’t make that an argument. If all the girls develop anorexia and stop eating because thin is hot, I’m still going to eat well-balanced meals. Many types of slavery were also in the majority at one point. Being in the popular crowd doesn’t make you right, just one in the herd.

Atheism Is Not My God

Upon discovering this disturbing image today amongst all the net-surfing, I began to wonder. What are the artist’s affiliations? He/she must certainly be religious on some level. One who is enveloped by religion cannot understand or fathom the idea of removing a god completely. I have no god; I don’t have the need. I am a very moral and ethical person; I live my life happily and peacefully.

In the case of a religious person, if you were to remove religion and god, every other aspect of their life would continue just the same. Yet many theists believe atheists are “god-haters”. I can’t hate something I have no feelings for. I simply could not (even if I wanted to) hate the nonexistent.
