I Joined the Atheist Blogroll. Is it for you?

I recently joined Mojoey’s Atheist Blogroll. I think this is a great idea. Just like having a pride parade, we atheists need to stick together and overcome adversity. Religion still runs rampant (yes, like a virus) but with a little push, we could see some positive change in the years to come. The blogroll has over 200 links; we are an indestructible force.

Atheists, humanists, freethinkers, and such join the blogroll. And help us make history!

NOTE: Atheists have as much an agenda as the feminist or gay movements (which I am also 100% pro). To any conservative traditionalist, that may sound like the exact opposite of the what it really is. There is no “agenda”. We just want respect and to be trusted by the general population. I want to tell my coworkers freely about all I have to say. I’ve told my friends and family, but keeping one’s mouth shut at the place we spend most of our time sucks!

Discover the Truth

Ever wanted to know what it would be like to be a god, one of the gods, or more specifically the Christian God? No. Why on Earth would anyone want to envision a life so boring? LOL.

Check out The God Simulator and discover the truth.

The Second Enlightenment

The concept of Enlightenment broadly means the acquisition of new wisdom or understanding perception. There are occurrences of some type of enlightenment throughout the history of the Buddhist, Judaic, Hindu, Christian, and Islam peoples. Most well known is the European Age of Enlightenment or simply The Enlightenment, which refers to the historical intellectual movement which advocated reason as the primary basis of authority.

But was is truly enlightening? The atheist, secular, humanist, and secular humanist movements have begun and because of the blogging digital age we can connect and push our causes further. Perhaps in the next 5, 10, or 25 years, atheists and humanists alike will be in the “trusted” majority.

Religion will not go quickly, nor will it go peacefully. But it’ll be a great day when an atheist can proudly decree his or her atheism without be afraid that coworkers, friends, and/or family could possible think negatively of it.

We’re Comin’ Out! (Thanks to Pete Stark.)

I’ve been so busy at work this week, I haven’t had much time to even look at a blog. But I did have the opportunity to read this article and would like to share it. Pete Stark is the first U.S. Congressman to openly hold nontheist/atheist views. It’s a start!

There is only one member of Congress who is on record as not holding a god-belief.

However:

Surveys vary in the percentage of atheists, humanists, freethinkers and other nontheists in the U.S, with about 10% (30 million people) a fair middle point. “If the number of nontheists in Congress reflected the percentage of nontheists in the population,” Lori Lipman Brown, director of the Secular Coalition, observes, “there would be 53-54 nontheistic Congress members instead of one.”
