MySpace sucks, so do I give in?

A few weeks a go, I posted about The Coming Out Godless Project site being revamped. The changes have begun; I’m still uncertain what the ETA is so I will let you know when I do. And in case you’re wondering (for any reason), I am designing it, yet having coders take care of the back end. Although I understand HTML and some CSS, I am still learning JavaScript. Suffice it to say, I want it to stand out.

If you have any suggestions at all on how to make the site more functional or aesthetically pleasing, feel free leave a comment. All suggestions will be taken into consideration. I’ve received a few so far that are already in the works; thank you to those you’ve made suggestions so far.

So, here’s my dilemma, albeit a minuscule one. I personally can’t stand MySpace. It’s full of spammers, stalkers, etc. I used to be on it, so if I’ve disappeared from your friends’ list: it is not you, it’s me. :) However, I realize that it is a popular site for networking, so would it be in the best interest of Coming Out Godless to have a profile? Of course, this would not be a personal profile, just a landing page for the project. Although the message page when you click an outbound link (“Warning! You are about to leave MySpace!”) doesn’t bode well for outgoing links. My initial reaction is “F%&# MySpace, they suck”, but I can get over that easily if need be. So, what do you think? Should I make a MySpace profile for The Coming Out Godless Project or not?

I’ve had a MySpace for awhile and use to get allot of just annoying invites. But found its if you set the option that anyone requesting to be a friend on it requires a captcha, and can set that for most things it really limits the number of spam messages and such ya get..you still get a few, but not nearly as many.

Mostly just have the account for a few friends though, rarely do much with it other then to see maybe what friends are up to. I’m more digging the newer changes to Facebook..perhaps ya can do something there with it?

Thanks for the input. I was thinking perhaps both. But since I’m automatically signed in on Facebook, having 2 profiles would be difficult, though not impossible. Maybe I’ll set one up there, but without having a “real name”, I thought it might be an issue. Yet I should probably set up a group there in any case.

    Thanks. :)
