Good god

The Council for Secular Humanism is asking the same thing I’ve been asking for a couple years now. This is how I see it, plain and simple:

  • I use the capital G when I am referring to the specific Abrahamic God as a person’s name.
  • I use the lowercase g when I am referring to the notion of god.

Not only was I raised Jewish, I also contemplated the possibilities of Wicca and Buddhism (at separate intervals) and then after some much needed conversation with my husband (then boyfriend), I realized that they’re all the same basic stuff and I don’t need any of it. Though I have discussed the benefits of some ideals in Zen Buddhism, I don’t prescribe to the bulk of it. In all honestly, sometimes a little positive thinking and finding that balance between the good & bad people and events is necessary. Surely, it’s not the only way to do such things but it worked for me at a not-so-great time in my life.

36 Random Beliefs

A Redditer asks thirty random strangers if they believe in god.. and the few lines that follow. See all of them.

Do You Believe in God?

This is an interesting experiment (though it means nothing) because I have yet to meet two people who believe in the same god. No matter how much they may claim its the same, it never is.

The James Randi Educational Foundation, Banned.

YouTube, you suck. Vimeo is much better anyway.

James Randi is a hilarious skeptic, brimming with satire and class. Removing his videos must be the lowest blow. That said, I’m not surprised.

Feel free to contact Goo Tube, if that’s your thing.

Brian the Atheist

Brian buys "The God Delusion"Brian Griffin (Family Guy) came out some weeks ago without conflict. He met a hot, but  über-skanky redhead who was also an atheist. They romantically shared the last copy of  The God Delusion, then she slept around with all his neighbors. In all fairness he was trying to hold out because he erroneously thought it would make the relationship more special. One of those situations where a tiny bit of communication could have helped.

And no one cared.

In last night’s episode, Brian came out to his family (he was under the impression they already knew) and all flaming heck broke loose.

Lois lost some cool points for sure:

An Atheist, that’s just about the worst thing a person can be!

Meg discusses Christianity to BrianBut Brian’s a dog. Not much more needs to be said.
