Bland Non-points from The Amazing Meeting

One thing I was very happy for was that there was very little talk of Elevatorgate. Everyone I met was friendly and no dramas were heavily recalled. There were a few jokes here and there, in addition to some unnecessary beating around the bush. Luckily, it was minimal. I did not take many photos this time, but I did tweet a bit. Jesus and Moses were there; you can see them listening to PZ Myers speak. He’s up there somewhere. I promise. ;) I don’t really have much to say except I...

The Amazing Meeting 8 Roundup

I know I’ve slacked on reporting about TAM8. So here ya go. I only paid for Saturday’s events and got sick (most likely from stress) early on Thursday. It lasted right on through ’til Sunday so I missed even more events that I originally planned on. I know a lot of people got sick as well after their stay at South Point but mine came prior. (And this kind of anxiety sickness isn’t a stranger to me.) Luckily, Eric was able to get all the best photos. If you recall, I...

Atheists United Meeting with Richard Haynes as Guest Speaker

On Sunday July 26th, (Brother) Richard Haynes — director of Atheist Nexus — spoke at the Atheists United meeting. We’ve known each other online for several years through our blogs and other projects; it was great to finally meet him. Richard first spoke of his life with his wife and daughters leading to his own coming out. While overseeing much of what happens at Atheist Nexus, he’s taken it on as a near-full-time job. He spoke to the concept of the site: a Facebook for...

Something about professors and dominatrixes

WoW! Read this review. Now. Though, you must be warned, its very very long. But fully worth it. Via Jen: Dripping with sex and violence? Humanist professor and a sexy dominatrix? Showing random people what atheism is really about? Hell yeah, I thought, I’ll read it! I had nothing else to do this Sunday, anyway. … I really wanted to be nice to this book, I really did. I was all ready to give it a chance and write up an honest review to help this guy out. Well, this review will be...

Brian the Atheist

Brian the Atheist

Brian Griffin (Family Guy) came out some weeks ago without conflict. He met a hot, but  über-skanky redhead who was also an atheist. They romantically shared the last copy of  The God Delusion, then she slept around with all his neighbors. In all fairness he was trying to hold out because he erroneously thought it would make the relationship more special. One of those situations where a tiny bit of communication could have helped. And no one cared. In last night’s episode, Brian came...

I <3 Religulous

Posted by on Oct 4, 2008 in Images, Reviews | 2 comments

Last night, I saw Religulous. Director Larry Charles was supposed to hold a Q&A session afterward, but he had to cancel due scheduling conflicts. Even so, my husband and I were still very excited. For most comedies these days, as I sit before the large or small screen, I come to a disheartening realization that I had already seen the funniest moments in the previews and trailers. That was not the case with Religulous. I found myself laughing (almost non-stop) throughout the movie. In...
