All About God…err…I mean god

About two months ago, I blogged about god. More specifically god or God: Why do some atheists use God with a capital “G”, including many authors? Isn’t that giving their(theists) god precedent over reality. The Greek gods aren’t capitalized, nor should the Christian god, the Jewish god, the Muslim god, et al. Many believe “God” is a proper noun. My question is this: if there is any doubt or confusion on the existence of something, then how is it a proper...

More Secular Americans?

Thanks vjack at Atheist Revolution (and I suppose Debunking Christianity). This gives me some hope for the future of humanity. Recent data shows there are more secular Americans than we originally thought: We commonly hear that only a tiny percentage of Americans don’t believe in God and that, as a Newsweek poll claimed this spring, 91 percent do. In fact, this is not true. How many unbelievers are there? The question is difficult to assess accurately because of the challenges of...

Agnosticism comes in many forms. With agnostic theism, someone doesn’t know or it doesn’t matter. He/she believes in something while not adhering to any particular group. Perhaps someone just hasn’t made up his/her mind. And may or may not plan to either. I imagine its easier to just not think about it for some. Atheism also comes in many forms, many degrees. Since it denies the existence of a god or gods, I realized maybe 3 or 4 years ago agnosticism is definitely not for me....

My Godless Journey

Posted by on Aug 8, 2007 in Essays | 3 comments

A few posts ago, I attempted to put myself in the theist’s shoes by going back into my own journey of enlightenment and godlessness. I admit it’s “too arduous of a task for me to think like a theist. I just don’t have it in me; moreover it would be an insult to theists.” But I can go back to before I knew I didn’t believe. Back to a time when I wasn’t sure what to believe; but considered myself closer to that of an agnostic theist. When I stood in my...
