As a woman, I have a soft spot for the non-Abrahamic religions.
Not that I don’t find them silly, but I don’t find them offensive. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam don’t regard women as equal to men. There are reform varieties that some will argue for, but let’s just go with what’s actually written in these books. Wicca (or Neo-Paganism), for instance, is empowering for women in a sense. I thought about Wicca many years ago but couldn’t get into it. Though, I’ve known many who could and did. The Abrahamic religions...

The Council for Secular Humanism is asking the same thing I’ve been asking for a couple years now. This is how I see it, plain and simple: I use the capital G when I am referring to the specific Abrahamic God as a person’s name. I use the lowercase g when I am referring to the notion of god. Not only was I raised Jewish, I also contemplated the possibilities of Wicca and Buddhism (at separate intervals) and then after some much needed conversation with my husband (then boyfriend),...

In an interesting article from The Buddhist, thezennist discusses the evil of (the Christian) god. I really feel sorry for any kid, today, who has to say: “In God we trust,” because I finally discovered who God really is. He is the guy that invented evil. It is true. I guess for some believers it is no big deal that their God...

Recent post, On Zen Buddhism. To me, Zen Buddhism is a life philosophy more than anything. According to my research, it does not have the necessity for a supernatural being or reincarnation. The ultimate goal is Nirvana (nothingness). Some had mentioned that Buddhism (may I remind you that I specifically said “Zen Buddhism”) was agnostic. Agnostic is the belief in god with no or little religious beliefs. This is almost the opposite. I believe in peace and nature and have many...

It can never hurt to have some Zen in one’s life. According to some of the research I’ve only begun, Buddhism can be seen as a religion or philosophy, or both. In addition, Buddhism is a non-theistic religion/philosophy, so it’s right up my alley. I cannot succumb to an artificial supernatural being, yet am trying to find a new kind of inner peace. This slightly explains my recent poll of “Love Vs. Money.” To me, love and non-materialistic goods should be valued...
